Description
This course is suitable for anyone who works with children or has children. This includes parents and carers, teachers or other educational staff who work in schools or nurseries, care or clerical workers, including those involved in social care/work and healthcare staff, including those working in mental health.
To help increase your awareness of anxiety in children, this course introduces anxiety and explores what anxiety is and what causes this. You will also explore the impacts of anxiety, whilst also looking at the different ways a child can be supported and who can provide this support (and how).
This course also explains the different types of anxiety, to help you gain a deeper understanding of each type. You will also explore the different ways that anxiety can present itself by looking at the most common signs and symptoms. Anxiety is normal. But this course will also help you pinpoint when anxiety becomes a problem.
You will finish off the course by exploring how anxiety is diagnosed and treated, the different support that should be provided to any young person who is an anxiety sufferer.
In order to complete the course, you must achieve 80% or more in the final multiple choice quiz.

- Unit 1 – Introduction to Anxiety in Children – In the first unit of our understanding anxiety in children course, you will increase your understanding of anxiety and how it impacts children. The unit will clarify what anxiety is and the main causes of anxiety in children.
- Unit 2 – What Causes Anxiety in Children? – This unit will focus on the causes of anxiety in children, you will also explore the different types of anxiety including the 7 most common forms of anxiety in children and how they can impact a child or young person.
- Unit 3 – Signs and Symptoms of Anxiety in Children – In this unit you will focus on the signs and symptoms of anxiety in children, including the physical, emotional and psychological signs and symptoms, you will also explore panic attacks, sickness, eating issues and sleep issues.
- Unit 4 – Diagnosis, Treatment and Support – In the final unit of our understanding anxiety in children course, you will look at the different diagnoses, treatments, and support for children who suffer from anxiety. You will also explore some key tips and tricks to help remedy anxiety in children.
