Description
On completion of the course, students will gain an understanding of managing temperature in the workplace, learning about what temperature is, why it is important and how it can impact work productivity. Students will learn about the work place health, safety and welfare regulations.
Students will examine the hazards and risks associated with heat and cold and consider some factors that increase the risk. The course will cover risk assessment and look at how employers can control the risks and examine the hierarchy of hazard controls and how employers can use this to control heat and cold hazards. The course will explore how to prevent specific hazards and what workers can do to help control the risks.
Students will examine the meaning of thermal comfort and the factors affecting how comfortable workers feel. You will look at how employers can manage thermal comfort in the workplace and how employers should regularly measure and monitor thermal comfort in the workplace to ensure workers health and safety and enhance productivity.
In order to complete the course, you must achieve 80% or more in the final multiple choice quiz.
You will earn 3 CPD points on completion of the course, this course will take around 3 hours to complete and the certificate will last for two years.
Units covered
- Unit 1 – Understanding the importance of workplace temperature – In the first unit you will consider what temperature is, why it is important at work, and how it can affect productivity, health, and safety.
- Unit 2 – Temperature hazards and risks – In the second unit you will examine the hazards and risks associated with heat and cold and consider some factors that increase the risk. You will explore the requirement for a risk assessment and look at how employers can control the risks.
- Unit 3 – Controlling temperature-related risks – In the third unit we will examine the hierarchy of hazard controls and how employers can use this to control heat and cold hazards. You will explore how to prevent specific hazards and what workers can do to help control the risks.
- Unit 4 – Introduction – Managing workplace temperature and thermal comfort – In the final unit we will explore the meaning of thermal comfort and the factors affecting how comfortable workers feel. You will look at how employers can manage thermal comfort in the workplace and why measuring and monitoring thermal comfort is important to ensure workers health and safety.

This course is suitable for anyone who works in extreme temperatures or wants to learn about temperature in the workplace and how to manage it.
Requirements
You are required to complete a 30 question multiple choice quiz at the end of the course. Where you need to achieve at least 80% or above to pass. You can complete the quiz as many times as you need to pass.
