Description

This regulated qualification is ideal for those already working or preparing to work within industry wishing to become an Emergency First Aider in the workplace for the purposes of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (NI)1982 and subsequent changes.

The recommended course duration is one day. Topics covered include the roles and responsibilities of the Emergency First Aider, assessing an incident, recognising signs and symptoms of injury and illness, and assisting a casualty suffering from injury and illness. The qualification is assessed via on-going oral and/or written questioning and practical demonstration.

The minimum contact hours for this qualification, excluding breaks, should be a minimum of 6 hours over 1 day as a classroom course. In May 2016, the HSE and Awarding Organisations announced that computer-based blended training is now allowed for all workplace first aid courses.

You now have the option to complete your Emergency First Aid at Work course as a blended course, with 2 hours of online training followed by 4 hours in the classroom. Our blended training allows you to learn the theory at your own pace, one-to-one with your instructor at a time that suits you.

This blended EFAW course meets all of the requirements under the HSE and Awarding Organisations and is available as a ProTrainings or Regulated Qualification.

All successful students will be issued with an Emergency First Aid at Work Certificate, detailing their achievement. The HSE dictate, that to be valid in the workplace, learners must retake the Emergency First Aid at Work qualification before the expiry of 3 years from the date that the original qualification was achieved. The HSE state that the full Emergency First Aid at Work qualification must be taken again to be valid in the workplace. Please contact ProTrainings for further information.

All our first aid courses fully meet the UK and European Resuscitation Council Guidelines as per the HSE requirements.

The HSE strongly recommend that all first aiders complete an annual first aid refresher course and our online course meets this requirement.

Just to let you know, the classroom course has a minimum age requirement of 14.

The content of this and all our courses has been independently certified as conforming to universally accepted Continuous Professional Development (CPD) guidelines and come with a Certified CPD Statement as well as a ProTrainings Certificate and for online courses an Evidence-Based Learning statement.

Regulated Qualification Details

This course allows learners to gain a formally recognised regulated qualification. If you require funding, a regulated qualification is often required. Phone us and we can advise if needed. If you choose our course leading to a regulated qualification, additional assessment criteria must be undertaken with an instructor and a small extra certification charge.
