Study Hours
- The learning hours for this course are up to 360 hours over 12 months.

Course Duration
- You have 12 months to complete this course. Don’t worry if you go over the year though, we can organise an extension to your course for an additional fee, which also extends your tutor support.

This course takes place across seven units, with learners achieving 36 credits.
As you demonstrate your ability to work at level 4 in a school or college environment, you will be assessed through written assignments, professional discussions, and observations that should be part of your everyday routine.
The HLTA course is assessed by internally set and marked assessments subject to external quality assurance and must include confirmation of workplace competence.
As part of achieving the qualification, learners will need to complete a minimum of 50 hours of work placement in a relevant role.
Assessment methods include:- Portfolio of evidence from real work/classroom situations which includes observation and/or witness testimony
- Written assignments, tasks, records of oral or written questions, workbooks, or other portfolio evidence.
- Demonstration of practical skills and confirmation of workplace competence
Your performance in the workplace can be assessed by a workplace assessor who has held a supervisory role for over two years and has a Level 4 or above support teaching qualification or full teaching qualification. Alternatively, you can be assessed by a colleague who has an assessing qualification, such as A1 or CAVA, alongside a Level 4 or above support teaching qualification or a full teaching qualification. Oxbridge will verify the suitability of your assessor, and we offer free guidance on how to observe and write in a format suitable for your tutor to mark if needed. An Oxbridge assessor can also be provided for you if needed, for an additional fee.
