Description
Despite the fact that over recent years residential and commercial property practitioners have become increasingly aware of the need to manage title risk on behalf of clients, lenders and the practice itself, many conveyancers obtain title or covenant insurance as a matter of routine.
Whether this is in response to title, easement or covenant problems, the issue is that the conveyancer may be taking the risk, not the insurer, which begs the question, is title insurance a panacea or a negligence time-bomb?
During this one hour webinar, experienced property lecturer Hannah Mackinlay will consider the following questions:
- When is a broker not a broker? Are you the broker?
- What does title insurance really cover - does the client realise this?
- When should you never suggest insurance cover for problems?
- Who should get the cover - buyer or seller?
- The new kids in town - HOPP, SCIP - should you jump in?
