Additional downloadable self-study materials, including a skill development exercise and a key learning points document, are also provided.

Tutor support is provided via email.

Description

This on line training course can be taken at your own pace and at a time that fits with your busy schedule.

The course looks at making the move into a supervisory position, the expectations and requirements and the challenges those new to supervision often face.

The course includes a downloadable exercise to help you apply the learning and a self-paced test to ensure you understand the key learning points.

A personalised certificate can be printed once you have completed the course.

A key learning points document is also included for you to download and keep.

Course Aims:

To understand what is expected in the role.

To identify the change required to be a supervisor.

To identify the competencies required by effective supervisors

Course Content:

  • Course Introduction
  • Why supervisors are needed
  • Moving into a supervisory position
  • The five functions
  • Organisational expectations
  • Key responsibilities
  • Your team’s expectations
  • Common reasons why new supervisors fail
  • The key competencies you need to succeed

The format of this online supervisor training course is as follows:

The tutorial for the course is approximately 40 minutes in duration and is divided into shorter bite size sections. You can take each section at your own pace, repeating the section if required or moving forward when you are comfortable with the material covered.

Access to the course is provided via our LMS which is available 24/7. Access keys are provided via email and are valid for 20 days from date of purchase.

The course starts with a welcome from the tutor, the course aims and how to get the best from the training.

The virtual tutor then begins the first training session using visual aids to convey the key messages and supporting commentary. The commentary includes real life examples for you to relate to the subject matter covered.

After all the tutor led sessions have been completed you can then take a series of test questions which will verify your understanding of the material. Many of the questions, once answered will provide feedback and an explanation will be given to help consolidate the learning experience, resembling a real life tutor.

Next there is a summary of the key learning points of the module. This is critical as research demonstrates that summarising at the end of a training session helps to improve the level of retention of the material covered.

You can then print off your personalised certificate to confirm you have completed the course.

Then, to help you convert the learning points into actions there is a post course exercise and a key learning points document for you to download.

Finally if you have any unanswered questions or require any further support to help you get the best out of the material, you can email our skilled team of trainers who are on hand to help.

FAQs

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
