Please note all distance learners must have access to Microsoft Word, Power- Point, a safe teaching environment to deliver the micro teach, a camera, skype or face time on a devise for the assessor to observe assessment methods carried out.

Duration of course

6-12 months

If you want to become an Associate Teacher, who teaches from pre-prepared material, teaches limited levels of programmes in one curriculum area, and has limited responsibility for curriculum design, then you will need to achieve the Certificate.
The Certificate in Education and Training has been specifically designed for the 19+ age groups, this certificate is designed to equip a wide range of teachers/trainers and facilitators with the requisite skills and knowledge required to fulfil a teaching role. The course will give you a fundamental understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a teacher/trainer in relation to legislation, equality, diversity and meeting the needs of learners. You will be able to use initial and diagnostic assessments and plan and deliver inclusive teaching and learning. You will also be able to assess learning and use appropriate resources to support effective learning.

You should be qualified/experienced in the subject you wish to teach at least Level 3, with good levels of language, literacy and numeracy. You should be IT literate. You must have access to 30 hours of teaching. This qualification is also suitable for those delivering education and training in any learning environment.
You will be assessed by an assessor using a range of methods. This could include direct observation in the workplace, a portfolio of evidence, written assignments. We request witness testimonies from a professional member of staff to show competence in both knowledge and skills.

Requirements

There are no other nationally agreed entry requirements. However, experience in teaching would be an advantage and 30 hours of teaching must be delivered.
