The Sage 50 Beginners’ Course

This course teaches you the basics of account management and provides you with an overview of computerised accounting. The course will guide you through your first experiences with Sage 50, demonstrating how to navigate the basic features whilst taking you through the process of entering new company information.

The course then addresses essential transactions and processes including bank reconciliation, managing petty cash, creating supplier records, and producing sales invoices. You will learn shortcut keys which will enable you to use Sage 50 in a more efficient manner. By the end of the course you will have gained an appreciation of accounting as a discipline alongside your practical knowledge of the software.

The Sage 50 Intermediate Course

Audit trails are a key aspect of accurate accounting and you will gain further knowledge and insight into this process during the course. Samantha asked:

Is the trial Sage program sufficient to complete the course or do you need to pay for a Sage package? Also how do you get a certificate on completion?

Yes the free trial Sage program is sufficient to compete the course :) On completion you will receive a Diploma certificate.

This was helpful. Thank you for your feedback.
JP asked:

As I'd like to study this at home, is this an online (dummy) version of Sage that you provide for training purposes?

You can study our course from any device. Sage provide a free online trial version of the Sage 50 Accounts software, which is more than suitable to study this course and learn how to use the software. This course does not include the sage software as part of the course. The Sage 50 Accounts software itself can only run on a windows PC or laptop. In order to operate the sage software, learners will need access to a windows based PC or laptop.

This was helpful. Thank you for your feedback.
Sarah asked:

Is the software included? And how long would it take to complete the course roughly

Hi Sarah, No, the software is not included. The course duration depends entirely on the student themselves as you can study as much or little as you want, when you want. You have lifetime access to the course.

This was helpful. Thank you for your feedback.
Lin asked:

Is there a cost for obtaining a Diploma certificate or for access to the tutor?

Hi Lin, Once you have completed the course, you will be able to download/print your certificate from your account free of charge. Alternatively, you can pay a small fee for a hard copy to be posted to you. Tutor support is free of charge.

What does study method mean?

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

What are CPD hours/points?

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

What is a ‘regulated qualification’?

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

What is an ‘endorsed’ course?

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body’s logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
