Overview

It takes a very special person to be a carer. You are helping people in their own homes or in day centers, residential or nursing homes every day, and that takes patience, caring and understanding. As well as getting to know clients and their interests and needs, helping with personal care like washing, using the toilet and dressing, food preparation, feeding and giving out medication, carrying out general tasks like housework, and laundry and shopping to name a few: you will also need to understand your legal responsibilities for Safeguarding, have clear professional boundaries and understand what it is to be a lone worker. That is why we have put together this new and exciting course package to give you everything you need all in one place, to be the best carer you can be. If you bought these courses individually, they would cost you £90. With this package you will save £20. What are you waiting for!?

Description

Summary

This is an online course, if you order through Reed (this site) you will receive an email confirming your booking. Once we receive notification from Reed, we will email you a link with instructions to create your account and unlock your chosen course.

The training is accessed through a web browser, there will be a learner file which you can download and complete as you progress through the course. If you need tutor support you can email your question to the tutor.

How it works

The key topics for this course have been broken down into lessons, each lesson dealing with a specific area of the overall subject. Each one has clearly set learning outcomes and assessment criteria.

You can progress through the course at your own pace. If you need to leave the course, it will remember where you left off, so when you return there is no need to repeat steps. We often include external links, videos, webpages, downloads, which provide excellent resource files.

At the end of each lesson is a knowledge checkpoint, you will need to achieve more than 75% to pass the lesson, which then unlocks the following lesson. Upon completion of the final lesson your certificate will be unlocked. You can save this as a PDF to your computer or simply print it off.

When

The course is self-paced so you decide at what pace the training goes. You will have 12 months access to the course and can revisit it as many times as you need.

Who is this course for?

FAQs

What does study method mean?

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. At reed.co.uk courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

What are CPD hours/points?

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on reed.co.uk, many of which can be completed online.

What is a ‘regulated qualification’?

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

What is an ‘endorsed’ course?

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body’s logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as ABC Awards and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
