This diploma provides a strong foundation in specialist support for teaching and learning. Learners will explore principles of child and young people’s development, health and safety, equality and diversity, safeguarding, assessment for learning, and effective communication.

Course Outline - Teaching assistant
To achieve the Qualifi Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools, learners must complete 44 credits from 13 mandatory units:
Mandatory Unit
Schools as business organisations – 3 credits
Support for learning activities – 4 credits
Promoting positive behaviour to children and young people – 3 credits
Promoting equality, diversity and inclusion when working with children and young people – 2 credits
Support for assessment for learning – 4 credits
Understanding children’s and young people’s development – 4 credits
Principles of safeguarding the well-being of children and young people – 3 credits
Supporting the health and safety of children and young people – 2 credits
Personal development in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings – 3 credits
Delivering learning activities in collaboration with a teacher – 4 credits
Supporting gifted learners – 4 credits
Supporting children’s communication – 4 credits
Assessment
Learners are assessed through written assignments and practical evidence that demonstrate achievement of all learning outcomes. Assessments are criterion-referenced, and each unit is graded as a "Pass" once the required standards are met. If additional evidence is required, learners will receive feedback and can resubmit. Assessments are completed online, ensuring flexible study.

The Qualifi Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools is regulated by Ofqual (Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation), ensuring it meets high-quality standards.
