Teaching Assistants carry out a range of practical and administrative tasks, and work under the direction of the class teacher in the supervision and support of pupils’ learning. As a Teaching Assistant, you would need to help prepare lessons, put up displays around the school, and sometimes work with individual children. In doing this you are helping to make more time available for the teacher to teach.
For most, especially those with children of a school age, a job as a teaching assistant is a dream job. Not only are the working hours great, with holidays that fit around term time, but it is a highly rewarding and fulfilling job, with a career path that can take you to many places!
