The sequence of a child’s development, also known as developmental milestones are divided into five different aspects: Physical; Social, Emotional and behavioural; Communication and language; Intellectual and cognitive.

Module 2

This module will teach you about Communication and Professional Relationships with Pupils and Family. Good communication is central to working with children, young people, families and carers. It helps build trust and encourages them to seek advice and use services. It is key to establishing and maintaining relationships and is an active process that involves listening, questioning, understanding and responding.

Module 3

In this module, you will learn all about Safeguarding the Welfare of Children and Young Person. This section offers a practical introduction to safeguarding children and young people. Along with guidance on how to ensure they remain safe in different situations, it also provides basic information on creating a safeguarding policy.

Module 4

This module will teach you about Gathering Materials. A major aspect of your training is recognising what your participants need, want, and expect, and then responding accordingly. This module will explore some ways to identify participants’ needs and adjust your material accordingly.

Module 5

In this module, you will learn all about Creating a Lesson Plan. A lesson plan is an outline that can both keep you on track and give you plenty of options. While the lesson plan is a guide for how you will manage a particular workshop, a well-designed lesson plan will also allow you to really enhance your training.

Module 6

This module will teach you about Delivery Tips and Tricks. In instructor-led, participant-centred learning, we are always looking for ways that participants can be successful through a period of self-discovery. This does not mean that we never lecture; sometimes, short lectures are the most effective way to deliver new content.

Module 7

In this module, you will learn all about Getting Off on the Right Foot. Get the session started right by being ready to welcome people as they arrive. They are just as curious about you as you are about them. They also will warm up to you if you are ready and welcoming each one as they arrive.

Module 8

This module will teach you about Keeping it Interactive. Participant-centred training is led by a trainer, but sometimes you may almost wonder why you are there because things are going so well! This is a sign of excellent program design, and that participants are taking responsibility for their learning.

Module 9

In this module, you will learn all about Dealing With Difficult Participants. Training involves people who, as we have already discovered, come to class with different reasons and motivations. Prepare for behaviours that can derail your training plan, so that you can continue to deliver effective training. Understand, too, that these difficult behaviours can come from a variety of learner types and people.

Module 10

This module will teach you about Tackling Tough Topics. Some elements of training are difficult, but you’ll get through them because you are a professional. Those early years provide the basis for language, physical dexterity, social understanding, and emotional development that she will use for the rest of her life.

Module 13

In this module, you will learn all about the SEN Code of Practice. The SEN Code of Practice 2001 has recently undergone a total overhaul which started with various consultations beginning in 2010 that finally culminated with the new SEN Code of Practice (‘CoP’) 2014 on 28 July 2014.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
