Our Supervision in Care course is suitable for developing your understanding of effective supervision, you will explore the warning signs of ineffective supervision before thinking about the impact ineffective supervision can have in health and social care.
You will cover record keeping for supervisions, how to choose which type of supervision to use, and review the effectiveness of different types of supervision. You will look at the different approaches and techniques that good supervisors can utilise during supervision.
You will explore some of the key skills supervisors need to give feedback and have challenging conversations before discussing how supervisions should be recorded.
You will also review what legislation and CQC guidance supervision records are important for ensuring compliance with.
By the end of the course you will have an increased awareness of the types of people who make good supervisors and the techniques they can use during supervision.
In order to complete the course, you must achieve 80% or more in the final multiple choice quiz.
You will earn 3 CPD points on completion of the course, this course will take around 3 hours to complete and the certificate will last for two years.

- Unit 1 – Introduction to Supervision in Care- In the first unit of our supervision in care course you will start by reviewing what supervision is and the key elements of supervision, you will learn what supervision should not be used for before looking at why supervision is important. You will also cover how supervision links to the Health and Social Care Act (2008), CQC guidance and CQC’s Key Lines of Enquiry.
- Unit 2 – Different Types of Supervision – In this unit you will start by reviewing the functions of supervision before looking at the different ways supervision can be delivered, you will look at how supervision links to good performance management and the soft skills needed for carrying out effective supervision.
- Unit 3 – The Role of the Supervisor – This unit will focus on the role of the supervisor in detail, you will explore who can be a supervisor and the CQC guidance is on the role of a supervisor, you will cover the attributes of a good supervisor, including values, attitudes, behaviours, knowledge, experience and key stills that contribute to this.
- Unit 4 – Dealing with difficult situations – In our final unit you will explore the role of supervision and the role of supervisors in giving staff feedback and having challenging conversations with staff, you will also be provided with tips on how to give feedback effectively and constructively.
