What you will learn

Order your next cappuccino in Italian with this beginners course from PopUp College and uTalk. Learn basic conversation for everyday situations, practise your pronunciation and build your confidence by speaking the language from lesson 1. You’ll learn some basic grammar, get to understand Italian culture and practise what you’ve learnt by playing fun games on the uTalk app (worth £49.99) – included in your course fee.

By the end of the course you will be able to

Understand key aspects of how the Italian language works; understand a core vocabulary of around 500 words; appreciate cultural reference points; feel confident about approaching strangers in the language and having a simple conversation.

Class format and activities

This course is all about getting you talking so there’ll be plenty of group work and discussion, as well as word games, role-play, quizzes and a chance to practise on your own between lessons.

Entry requirements

Enthusiasm and a willingness to join in! No previous knowledge of Italian is needed. If you think you’re no good at languages… this course is for you.

Familiarise yourself with the first words and food and drink topics before the first lesson (to be provided).

What you will need for your class

You’ll receive our language learning app uTalk on registration; we’ll ask you to download our app on to your computer, tablet or smartphone and familiarise yourself with the first words topic before the first lesson.

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
