The aims of this Sources of Support and Additional Resources online training course are to:
- Help learners to find out about and access various sources of help and support for their own mental health and that of others.
- Enable learners to complete an action plan focussing on these specific resources and set time-bound targets for researching these and using them to improve their mental health and that of others close to them.
Learning outcomes
On completion of this Sources of Support and Additional Resources eLearning course, the learner will be able to:
- Identify and access various sources of help and support for their own mental health and that of others
- Make an action plan for using, reading, or researching a minimum of three different resources to improve their own mental health and/or that of others close to them.
Learning objectives
On completion of this online Sources of Support and Additional Resources training course, the learner will be able to:
- Understand further sources of help and support for their own mental health and that of others.
- Develop an action plan of how they will further explore at least three of these resources and use these in practical ways to improve their own mental health and that of others.

- Many people experiencing mental ill-health do not receive support. Davies (2014) found 70-75% of people with diagnosable mental health conditions receive no treatment at all.
- Every year it costs businesses £1300 per employee whose mental health needs are unsupported. (Centre for Mental Health, 2017)
- Women are more likely than men to receive treatment for all mental health conditions - the Adult Psychiatric Morbidity Survey (2014) found 15% of women receive treatment compared to 9% of men.
- Young people aged 16-24 are less likely to receive mental health treatment than any other group. (Adult Psychiatric Morbidity Survey 2014).
