SENCO Awareness Level 3 consists of seven structured lectures, followed by an assessment, each addressing a core area of SEND understanding and professional awareness.
The course begins with an introduction to special educational needs coordination, outlining the SENCO role, responsibilities, and ethical considerations within SEND practice.
Assessment and identification of SEND explore types of special educational needs, assessment methods and tools, and strategies for identifying SEND in educational settings.
Individual education plans and personalised support examine how IEPs are created and implemented, alongside differentiated instruction and reasonable adjustments to support individual learners.
Collaborative working and multi-agency support focus on partnership building with families, colleagues, and external professionals to support holistic learner outcomes.
Inclusion and equality in education explore inclusive education principles, anti-discrimination practice, and promoting equality and access for all learners.
Managing challenging behaviours and emotional wellbeing introduces behaviour support approaches and strategies to promote emotional resilience and wellbeing.
Legal framework and SENCO leadership explore leadership awareness, advocacy, and understanding of SEND-related legal frameworks and compliance requirements.
The course concludes with a final assessment to evaluate understanding of SENCO awareness principles, inclusive practice, collaboration, and ethical responsibilities.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the SENCO Awareness Level 3 course, learners receive a free digital certificate from Reed confirming course completion. A provider-issued certificate is also available following verification, with optional premium certificates and academic transcripts available separately.
This course is suitable for learners working or aspiring to work in education, childcare, learning support, or SEND-related roles. This course supports progression into learning support roles, SEND support positions, teaching assistant roles, early years support, or further study in education and special educational needs. It does not qualify learners to act as a statutory SENCO or hold designated leadership responsibility.
