The CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Working with Individuals with Learning Disabilities Qualification is to enable you to gain a recognised (RQF) qualification in order to work with children that have Special Educational Needs (SEN) within a school environment.
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you are responsible for working with children that may have learning difficulties. It is the responsibility of each SEN Teaching Assistant to ensure children with learning difficulties are taught in a way they understand. This qualification will give you that knowledge and help you develop those with difficulties.
SEN Teaching Assistants work under the direction and supervision of Teachers & the SENCO team in order to help promote effective learning and teaching usually for children that may encounter learning difficulties. They carry out tasks delegated to them by the Teacher in order to work with children on both a 1-2-1 basis and also taking small groups to support learning.
The SEN Teaching Assistant will be responsible for contributing in the following areas:
- supporting the Teacher
- supporting children with learning difficulties (SEN)
- supporting the curriculum
- supporting the school

Unit 5 – Introductory awareness of autistic spectrum conditions

Assessments are a great way of checking your progress allowing you to apply your learning to real-world situations. Through the CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Working with Individuals with Learning Disabilities (RQF) Qualification, you will be assessed by a series of written assignments, which are submitted to and marked by your tutor.
All assignments are set by CACHE. Upon verification of the activities, exercises and assignments, a certificate of achievement will be awarded by CACHE, as confirmation that your written work has met all of the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for the course thus passing your recognised qualification in full.
Please note: There is no examination required for this course.
You will have access to a Tutor, via email & telephone, who will mark your work and guide you through the course to help you prepare for your assignments.
