Description
On completion of the course, students will gain an understanding of seizure awareness, you will cover what a seizure is and how they are categorized into different types.
We will explore the signs and symptoms of seizures and how these vary depending on the type of seizure a person experiences. We will discuss how seizures are different from other medical events and what appropriate first aid can be given to someone experiencing a seizure.
You will learn about the signs and symptoms of seizures and learn how they are different form other medical events. We will cover appropriate first aid that can be given to a person experiencing a seizure and how to create seizure friendly environments.
We will cover how epilepsy and other seizure conditions are diagnosed and the available treatments. You will learn how to provide emotional support during and after a seizure has occurred.
We will explore how those who have seizures can be supported through reasonable adjustments and have access to the same opportunities as others. you will learn about legislation and how work places and educational facilities can promote equality and awareness.
In order to complete the course, you must achieve 80% or more in the final multiple choice quiz.
You will earn 3 CPD points on completion of the course, this course will take around 3 hours to complete and the certificate will last for two years.
Units covered
- Unit 1 - Understanding seizures - In the first unit we will explore what a seizure is and how they are categorized into different types. We will discuss triggers for seizures and the myths and misconceptions surrounding seizures.
- Unit 2 - Recognising Seizures - In this unit we will explore the signs and symptoms of seizures and how these vary depending on the type of seizure a person experiences. We will discuss how seizures are different from other medical events and what appropriate first aid can be given to someone experiencing a seizure. The unit will outline when to seek further medical support or emergency medical care.
- Unit 3 - Seizure Treatment - In the third unit we will explore diagnosing and treating epilepsy and other seizure conditions. We will discuss the available treatments for those who experience seizures and how to provide emotional support during and after a seizure has occurred.
- Unit 4 - Seizure Awareness and Inclusion - In the final unit we will discuss how those who have seizures can be supported through reasonable adjustments in education and work to access the same opportunities as others. We will look at some legislation ensuring the equitable treatment of those who have seizures.

This course aims to provide you with a better understanding of seizures and how those who have seizures can be supported.
Requirements
You are required to complete a 30 question multiple choice quiz at the end of the course. Where you need to achieve at least 80% or above to pass. You can complete the quiz as many times as you need to pass.
