Description
The aim of this training is to give managers who manage staff that have safeguarding responsibilities the knowledge and understanding of what is needed to ensure staff are trained, supported and safeguarding concerns are dealt with in the correct way.
This is NOT a Safeguarding Designated Person (DSP) Course. The Designated Safeguarding Person (DSP) will need additional Group C training. All Managers will need to have completed their Group B Safeguarding Awareness training in order to under safeguarding and manage staff effectively.
Modules
Module 1 - Safeguarding legislation, guidance and roles – Prerequisite training, overview of legislation and assisting guidance: the Children Act 1989/2004, Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014), Working Together to Safeguard People, Wales, Safeguarding Procedures and other legislation. The role of Regional Safeguarding Boards and how the Designated Safeguarding Person works with them, how your role fits in to the process.
Module 2 - Supporting your team members - Practical advice for supporting your team members including induction and training requirements, handling team members concerns about children/adults, disclosures of abuse, allegations about other staff members, concerns about poor practice within the organisation, reporting and recording, referrals, support and supervision, professional curiosity.
