Description

Safeguarding is designed to protect the health, wellbeing and rights of us all, though it considers children, vulnerable adults and the elderly in particular. The Safeguarding Diploma Course talks you through what safeguarding is and how it can be implemented to protect people in various situations and environments.

The Safeguarding Diploma Course begins with an overview of the subject, an explanation of how safeguarding can be implemented into each practice and area of life, and a discussion about the six principles of safeguarding.

From this introduction, the course assigns a module to each area of safeguarding – starting with safeguarding children. We’ll look at how to safeguard children in general, whether in school or at home, including maltreatment/abuse, etc. The course also covers legislation with regards to protecting children.

We then move on to the safeguarding of adults in general, with a focus on adults who are being abused, before moving on to discuss individuals who are defined as ‘vulnerable adults’, which includes individuals with learning disabilities, mental health difficulties and physical ailments. We also look at how to safeguard the elderly, including individuals with ailments such as dementia and Alzheimer’s.

The course explains how the safeguarding of animals can be just as important as safeguarding people and ways to do this, with a focus on animals impacted by domestic abuse and/or trauma.

In addition to safeguarding individuals, the Safeguarding Diploma Course looks at the various situations in which safeguarding is important. It provides an overview of the safeguarding procedures a workplace needs to implement to protect its staff. The safeguarding of victims of crime is explained, including psychological abuse, neglect, financial abuse, domestic abuse, discriminatory abuse, modern slavery, sexual abuse, sexual violence, cyber-crimes and physical abuse. We’ll discuss safeguarding procedures for those conducting therapy sessions and aspects of the world online and how to ensure child safety online.

Finally, we’ll explore ways an individual can safeguard themselves in various circumstances.

Who is this course for?

While understanding safeguarding is a requirement of certain positions, such as roles within the education, health and care sectors, it is something we should all learn about. The more of us who are aware of the signs of neglect, maltreatment, and abuse, the more of us there are who can protect those being mistreated. The Safeguarding Diploma Course is an important course for us all to consider.
