Description
This Safeguarding Children Level 1 course provides the training needs for people who are new to roles working with children.
You will explore the different types of abuse that children may encounter and the signs and symptoms of each. You will look at the different risk factors that increase the likelihood of abuse or neglect occurring, including short term and long-term risk factors.
You will explore how you can recognise the signs of abuse and understand the appropriate steps to take when faced with a safeguarding concern. You will also cover how you can record concerns and disclosure.
By the end of the course, you should have the knowledge needed to be able to recognise and report safeguarding concerns within your workplace and be able to follow the correct procedures when working with potentially vulnerable children and young people.
In order to complete the course, you must achieve 80% or more in the final multiple choice quiz.
You will earn 2 CPD points on completion of the course, this course will take around 2 hours to complete and the certificate will last for two years.
Units Covered -
- Unit 1 – Introduction to Safeguarding Children – In the first unit of this safeguarding children level 1 course you will explore what safeguarding is, as well as learning more about your responsibilities and those of others when it comes to safeguarding children.
- Unit 2 – The Types of Abuse – This unit will explore what abuse is and will explore the different types of abuse, including neglect, physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, bullying, child sexual exploitation, etc.
- Unit 3 – Recognising Risk – In this unit you will look at risk factors for abuse, including disability, isolation, being in the care system etc. You will also explore the short-term risks and long-term risks.
- Unit 4 – Reporting and Recording Safeguarding Concerns – In the final unit of the safeguarding children level 1 course, you will explore the crucial aspects of effectively responding to abuse, handling disclosures and maintaining accur

Requirements
You are required to complete a 30 question multiple choice quiz at the end of the course. Where you need to achieve at least 80% or above to pass. You can complete the quiz as many times as you need to pass.
