Description
On completion of the course, students will gain knowledge about safeguarding and promoting the welfare of babies. Students will cover an introduction to baby safeguarding and learn about risk factors, vulnerabilities and the legal and ethical framework.
Students will learn about the indicators of abuse and neglect, the impact on babies both immediate and long term. You will explore cultural sensitivity and contextual factors such as differing cultural norms and language barriers.
You will explore what is involved in creating safe environments and educating caregivers and parents. Students will also cover implementing policies and procedures.
Students will cover reporting procedures, and collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams. You will also explore what is involved in supporting babies and families to improve outcomes.
In order to complete the course, you must achieve 80% or more in the final multiple choice quiz.
You will earn 3 CPD points on completion of the course, this course will take around 3 hours to complete and the certificate will last for two years.
Units covered
- Unit 1 – Understanding Safeguarding in the Context of Babies – In the first unit we will cover an introduction to baby safeguarding, risk factors and vulnerabilities. We will explore the legal and ethical framework and explore legal responsibilities and ethical principles.
- Unit 2 – Recognising Signs of Harm and Abuse – In this unit we will examine the indicators of abuse and the impact of abuse on babies. We will explore cultural sensitivity and contextual factors such as differing cultural norms and language barriers.
- Unit 3 – Preventive Measures and Risk Mitigation Strategies – In the third unit we will cover what is involved in creating safe environments. You will learn about educating caregivers and parents and cover implementing policies and procedures.
- Unit 4 – Responding to safeguarding Concerns – In the final unit we will cover reporting procedures and collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams. Students will cover early help and early intervention services aimed at improving outcomes to support babies. and families.

This course is suitable for anyone who wants to gain knowledge in the role of safeguarding children. This could be parents, nursery workers etc.
Requirements
You are required to complete a 30 question multiple choice quiz at the end of the course. Where you need to achieve at least 80% or above to pass. You can complete the quiz as many times as you need to pass.
