About the Course

Returning to social work can be a dauting task, you may have been out of practice for a short time or several years. This course has been designed to give you the skills, knowledge and CPD points required to confidently return to the Social Work profession. Enrolment on the course includes a one hour development call with one of our social work tutors.

Our online Social Work Theory and Practice Training from Sirius Social Care aims to provide learners with the skills and knowledge related to social work. The course will provide learners with insight and understanding into adult and childrens social work. It will cover knowledge, skills and reflective practice.

With 16 highly interactive modules and over 10 hours of video content the course will equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge related to social work.

Reflective accounts written by social workers are used throughout the course. The reflective accounts are based on practical examples in adult and childrens social work.

The course also helps learners to understand what a social work theory is and how it can be applied to social work practice.

This course is suitable for social workers wanting to develop their skills and knowledge, or people returning to social work. It is also a fantastic course for those exploring the possibility of becoming a social worker and want to understand what the job entails.

Completing the course will give learners 210 CPD points for the required private study. This does not include any supervised practice. The course will be classified as private study.

Private study can be up to half of the required period / 30 days for 60 day period (210 hours) and 15 days for 30 day period (105 hours). A day is equal to 7 hours.

Private study is a method of updating your skills and knowledge through self-structured learning. Some examples of the types of activities that you may include in your period of private study are:

reading journal articles or library books

reading information on relevant websites

observing or shadowing a social worker (which is different from supervised practice as there is no formal supervision arrangement)

attending training courses

reflecting on and recording your learning

Private study can make up no more than half of your 60-day updating period.

You can use one or more of the following 3 options to update your skills, knowledge and experience [4]:

  • supervised practice
  • formal study
  • private study

This course is for people wishing to return to the register completing private study and supervised practice. This course does not include any supervised practice, students will have to arrange their own supervised practice.

Final Assessment

During the course students are required to complete reflection accounts, these can be used if required as evidence with Social Work England.

Certificate

On successful completion of this course learners will be awarded with:

Level 4 CPD in Social Work Theory and Practice Training

Upon completion of the course learners will be awarded with the Sirius Social Care CPD certificate. The Certificate of Achievement will provide proof that you have studied the course and will contain your grade and classification level.

This certificate will be produced in PDF format, hard copies of the certificate are available on request at an additional fee of £19.99.

Course Format

This course is delivered online through eLearning. Learners of the course will receive instant access to our interactive student learning portal, which offers 24/7 access to the Social Work Training Course.

Course Duration

The learning is online so it can be spread out over multiple sessions or done in one session. The time taken to complete the course is dependent on the learner.

Learners will have access to this course for up to 12 months from the date of joining. There is no time limit to complete the course during this period.

Tutor Support

As part of the Social Work Training Course you will receive access to a dedicated tutor support. The tutor will be able to provide you with unlimited online email support to help answer any questions that you may have whilst you are studying the course.

There are no entry requirements necessary to join this course from Sirius Social Care. Everyone is welcome to enrol on this online course to develop their careers and practice. In addition, this course is for people wishing to return to the register completing private study and supervised practice. This course does not include any supervised practice, students will have to arrange their own supervised practice.

The course is beneficial for current social workers to increase their knowledge and obtain CPD points to support their required Social Work England CPD hours. It is also designed for people returning to the social work profession and require CPD hours to return to the register. The training is classed as private study.
