What You Get From Each Lesson
Lesson 1 – Three Tier Disconnection Haircut
In your first lesson, Tim Hartley shows you how to create a modern, Elvis-inspired look using 3 tiers of disconnection. Encompassing advice on graduation, fading, disconnection, freehand cutting and balance between extreme lengths, you’ll produce a modern high-sided quiff with a pronounced high fade that your clients will adore.
Lesson 2 – Square Graduation With Disconnected Fringe
Tim’s back in charge for lesson 2, this time to demonstrate the square graduation with disconnected fringe. You’ll use traditional barbering techniques in a contemporary way to create the seamless graduated fade. The end result? A modern update of the Brooklyn fade and blowout, steeped in the heritage of polished styles of the past and exuding effortless cool.
Lesson 3 – Flat Graduation Technique
In Tim’s final lesson, he demonstrates the flat graduation technique. This updated spin on a traditional retro shape combines flat graduation with a tight headline and a strong fringe. Prepare to finetune your blunt and clipper cutting skills – not to mention your clippers-over-comb technique – as you complete this versatile update of a 1980s classic cult barbering look.
Lesson 4 – Ton-Up Boy Haircut
Expert barber Dale Ted Watkins takes over for tutorial 4 to teach you the ton-up boy haircut. Inspired by 1950s motorbike culture, you’ll learn how to combine 3 separate phases of technique: clipper-over-comb, low graduation and disconnection. You’ll need to master all 3 if you’re going to successfully recreate this bad boy look.
Lesson 5 – Asymmetric Bald Fade Technique
Sid Sottung is your instructor for your final lesson, where he demonstrates the asymmetric bald fade technique. Inspired by military style of the 1940s and 1950s, this cut has been updated by Sid’s addition of asymmetry. You’ll learn how to achieve a fine blend from skin to apex using a variety of barbering techniques with a defining bespoke line.
