Description

Whistleblowing in the workplace can be difficult for any individual, but no more so than for those working within the legal sector. During this session, guidance will be provided in respect of your regulatory responsibility to the Solicitors Regulatory Authority (SRA) to report matters involving serious misconduct or risk to the public.

During this 30-minute session, barrister Alastair Hodge of 5 Essex Court will outline the legal background to whistleblowing and the circumstances in which would-be whistle-blowers are protected by law. Consideration will also be given to whistleblowing policy and procedures and how whistleblowing can be encouraged within the workplace.

Essential for all members of staff, this course will outline the importance of having a whistleblowing policy and will offer guidance on how firms can create one, if needed. A round-up of recent developments in whistleblowing case law will also be provided.
