Founded in 2017, Westminster College London (WCL) is a professional training provider dedicated to preparing English language teachers for confident, effective classroom practice and rewarding international careers. We combine evidence-based teacher education with hands-on experience so trainees leave ready to teach, adapt and thrive in diverse learning contexts.

WCL offers flexible learning routes, including classroom-based and online TEFL programmes, delivered through an expanding international network of centres. Our global footprint—built since 2017—helps trainees gain practical experience and cultural insight, and supports those who want to live and work abroad.

Quality and rigour underpin our provision. WCL is an approved centre for Focus Awards and is able to offer Ofqual-regulated qualifications; our non-regulated courses carry CPD Group accreditation. Course design emphasises interactive learning, personalised tutor feedback and supervised practical teaching: trainees receive structured lesson practice (including 20 hours of practical classroom training) so they graduate with real classroom confidence.

Beyond training, we support teachers’ transition into international teaching roles with honest, practical guidance and industry-relevant advice—plus upon-arrival support designed to ease the first steps of living and working overseas. Our core value is simple: put teachers first, by developing their professional skills, ethical practice and global employability.

We’re passionate about teachers living and working abroad – we truly believe it is one of the best things a person can do! Living abroad adds absolutely invaluable elements to our personal stories; it changes us and enlarges our world view, teaching us in ways that nothing else will. But it’s hard to know where to start when looking for work in other countries.

And that’s where we come in. You can think of WCL as your partner as you set your sights on finding work abroad. Everyone on the WCL team has lived and taught abroad and we use our industry experience to help you navigate the overseas job market, offering the most extensive upon-arrival support in the industry. We provide our teachers with an honest, upfront, “no-bull” perspective, and work tirelessly to prepare our teachers to live and work abroad for a year. Put simply: we are aware of and interested in each teacher’s unique needs and desires because we were all teachers once, too.
