Description

What will you learn in this Professional Childcare and Nannying

Module 1

In this module you will learn all about What is a Nanny? In the real world, nannies are ordinary people, like you and me, who are reliable, hard-working and patient. They enjoy taking care of children and are willing to fit in with the families they work for. The modern nanny is a respected professional.

Module 2

This module will teach you about Time Management for Nannies. Employers say that time management is the most important skill for a successful nanny. Time does not wait for any of us. In fact, we can’t really “manage time”. But we can manage how we use our time. Making plans, being organized and being on time are useful skills for anyone to have.

Module 3

In this module you will learn all about A Day in the Life of Martha, the Nanny. My alarm clock wakes me and I spring out of bed and into the shower. I dress in clean, comfortable clothes, brush my teeth and I’m ready for action. Breakfast can wait; I’ll eat with the three children I’m looking after in my new job as a nanny. I’m off to the bus stop, to catch the 8:15 bus. I missed it yesterday. The result? I got to work late. This meant that Mrs Wilson was late leaving for work and she wasn’t too pleased. From now on I’m going to show her that I know how to be on time.

Module 4

This module will teach you about Caregiver and Team Player. Most of a nanny’s working hours are spent with children. During that time, she is responsible for keeping them safe, feeding them and organizing healthy, fun activities. It’s important for her to know something about how children grow and develop and what a child needs at each stage of development.

Module 5

In this module you will learn all about It Takes a Village to Raise a ChildIt Takes a Village to Raise a Child. Kevin would soon finish high school. He wasn’t sure what he’d like to do after that but he was thinking of going to college. What would he study there? Well, he got on well with the many children in his large family – his sisters, brothers, cousins, nieces and nephews. Perhaps he should think about a career as a Teaching Assistant or an Early Childhood Educator.

Module 6

This module will teach you about The Nanny’s Job Profile. People working as babysitters, nannies and parents’ helpers were asked for their opinions on what makes a good nanny. They said that nannies should be patient and loving caregivers and should treat the children in their care as if they were their own.

Module 7

In this module you will learn all about Child Care Guidelines. Must have at least ONE adult on premises at all times who has a current certification in pediatric rescue breathing and first aid treatment from a certified instructor.

Module 8

This module will teach you about Outdoor Safety. Have a separate play area for younger preschoolers featuring equipment for their size and needs. Climbers and climbing toys should be low to the ground. Swings should be low and have special toddler seats that support the child’s whole body.

Module 9

In this module you will learn all about Plants That Poison.

Poisonous plants, household cleaners, and medicine are the three most common causes of accidental poisoning in children under 5 years old. The chart following shows the most commonly found poisonous plants in the Midwestern area of the United States. This is not a complete list. All plants listed as deadly in bold type are very poisonous and may cause death if eaten.

Module 10

This module will teach you about Guidelines for Food Preparation and Handling. The following discussion regarding proper handling of food is not intended to replace the existing food regulation, but to give the child care centre operator a brief insight into some of the criteria necessary to prevent a food-associated disease outbreak. It is the operator’s responsibility to contact the health department to obtain the necessary permits prior to opening for business.

Module 11

In this module you will learn all about Baby Products For Bath. Bath time for most children is fun. For a newborn, it is anything but. They just want to sleep, look around, be held and eat most of the time. Still, it is important to keep them clean. Walk into any department store and you are sure to find an aisle full of different baby products, all asking to be in use on your child. The question is though do you need them and should you use them.

Module 12

This module will teach you about Tips To Manage Your Baby Sleeping Schedules. Baby sleep schedules are one of the parts of baby care that are crucial to get right. Not only do you want to have a child that gets enough sleep, but you also need rest in order to care for the child. What makes sleep schedules so hard to deal with, though, is the fact that they often do take work to get right and it is not always easy from the beginning.

Module 13

In this module you will learn all about Baby Weaning Difficulties And Tips To Cope With It. Baby weaning is a process that often involves a bit of struggle on the part of the baby (and sometimes the parents, too.) Weaning your child off breastfeeding can be a challenge for both of you since it is not only a time for feeding but also a time for bonding and getting to be together.

Module 14

This module will teach you about Choosing The Right Baby Care. You have had a baby and are now trying to make your way back to work. How do you make such a transition and ensure that the process goes well for your child? There are several types of childcare providers available to you. Which one you select is very dependent on your circumstances and your needs. Most parents do find that there are solutions that work for them that are not only affordable but also beneficial to the child’s overall development.

Module 15

In this module you will learn all about Coping With Colic. Usually, within the first weeks of your baby’s birth, it may be obvious that the child is suffering from colic. The good news is that most children will outgrow this and often times they are able to develop very positive healthy lifestyles. Still, for any parent going through colic, there is no doubt that coping with it can be very trying. Know that you are not alone. People have dealt with this condition for a long time, and likely will continue to do so.

Module 16

This module will teach you about Bonding Time With My First Baby. Most parents hit it off with their little ones right away. The tremendous need to bond with a newborn is normally triggered by an intense emotion that makes a parent particularly the mother want to love and protect her young offspring. For some people, however, this may require a longer period especially after a complicated pregnancy or a strenuous labour.

Module 17

In this module you will learn all about Communicating With My First Baby. As a first-time parent, you probably wonder when your baby’s cooing will develop into his or her first words. Other queries about communication will almost certainly arise as well. You need to be patient, though, since babies normally articulate their first words at 11 months and onwards.

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
