PRINCE2 7th Edition Foundation Exam
Purpose: To ensure you can act as an informed Project Management team member using PRINCE2® methodologies. The PRINCE2® Foundation exam also aims to evaluate your ability to remember and comprehend the PRINCE2® project management methodology, as outlined in the syllabus.
- Exam Format - Multiple-choice (Standard, Missing word, List & Negative questions).
- All questions are presented in a 'multiple-choice' format.
- In 'standard' questions, you are given a single question followed by four possible answers.
- 'Negative' questions follow the format of 'standard' questions but feature a negatively phrased query.
- 'Missing word' questions consist of a sentence with an omitted word; you must choose the correct word from four alternatives.
- For 'list' questions, you are given four statements and required to identify the two correct ones.
- Number of questions - 60.
- You will be required to answer 60 questions, each carrying a value of 1 mark.
- No marks will be deducted for incorrect answers.
- Duration - 1 hour (60 minutes).
- If you take the exam in a language other than your native or primary working language, you may receive an additional 25% time allowance, equivalent to 75 minutes.
- Pass Mark - 36/60 (60%).
- Material allowed - None.
- This examination is a 'closed book' type. You should prepare using the PRINCE2® 7 Managing Successful Projects Official Book; however, it is NOT allowed during the exam.
PRINCE2 7th Edition Practitioner Exam
Purpose: The PRINCE2® Practitioner Exam measures whether you can apply the PRINCE2® methodology to run and manage a non-complex project within a project environment.
- Exam Format - Scenario, additional information & questions.
- It is recommended that you review the 'Project Scenario' to understand the project's background relevant to the questions.
- Additionally, for at least one of the questions, you should refer to the 'Additional Information' that provides details about the individuals involved in the project.
- Pass Mark - 42/60 (60%).
- Number of questions - 70.
- You have 70 questions to answer, each carrying a value of one mark.
- No marks will be deducted for incorrect answers.
- Question types - Classic & matching.
- All the questions are multiple-choice. Each starts with a brief description of a scenario followed by a question. In the 'classic' format, worth one mark, you will find a question accompanied by four choices (A, B, C, D).
- In the 'matching' format, which carries three marks, you are presented with three pieces of information and must select an appropriate answer for each from a list of five or six options.
- Duration - 2 hours 30 minutes.
- If you sit the exam in a language that is neither your native nor your working language, you may receive an additional 25% time, totalling 188 minutes.
- Material allowed - PRINCE2® Official Book.
- This examination permits using the PRINCE2® 7 Managing Successful Projects Official Book as an 'open book' resource. You may annotate within the book; however, no other materials are permitted.

Requirements
There are no prerequisites or entry requirements at Foundation level. However, basic project management knowledge would be beneficial.
Before sitting the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam, candidates must prove they hold one of the following qualifications:
- PRINCE2 Foundation or PRINCE2 Practitioner (6th edition or 7th edition)
- APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ)
- PMI® Certified Associate in Project Management
- PMI® Project Management Professional (PMP)®
- IPMA® Levels A, B, C or D.
