Description

Why Pixie Cut Variations?

Are you an intermediate-level stylist who’d like to develop the skills and techniques to stun your shorter-haired clients?

Then this is the course for you! Encompassing 5 pixie cuts of varying lengths, you’ll develop your skills progressively in lessons designed to empower you with the techniques and confidence to meet every client’s particular requirements. Here’s what you’ll learn:

  • Round Textured Layer – Michael Cohen demonstrates this longer pixie look
  • The Agnes Pixie Cut – inspired by supermodel Agyness Dean, taught by Lee Stafford
  • Short Round Graduation Variation – brought to you by Bastian Casaretto
  • Short Square Layered Haircut – Stacey Broughton shows you how
  • Short Round Uniform Layer With Conical Crown – complete the course with Stacey Broughton

Do you like being in control of your development as a hairdresser? Then you’ll love learning with MHDPro. Embed techniques easily using our unique See-Do-Stop-Check methodology then rely on them throughout your career. What’s more, all our courses earn you 10 hours CPD and a VTCT & ITEC-endorsed certificate, which you can display in your salon and use as evidence of learning towards your formal diploma.

What You Get From Each Lesson

Lesson 1 – Round Textured Layer

Start your journey to pixie perfection with the round textured layer. Michael Cohen shows you how to maximise movement and versatility with this asymmetrical look. Encompassing techniques including elevation, layering and over-direction – as well as blunt, point and freehand cutting – you’ll learn how to create this stylish yet soft and feminine cut.

Lesson 2 – Agnes Pixie Cut

Inspired by supermodel Agyness Dean, Lee Stafford demonstrates the Agnes pixie cut in lesson 2. This timeless look is incredibly versatile and can be easily adjusted in length to suit your client. Combining blunt, freehand, point and club cutting with disconnection and layering, you’ll build on the techniques you’ve learned in the first lesson.

Lesson 3 – Short Round Graduation Variation

Aveda’s artistic director for Germany, Austria and Switzerland, Bastian Casaretto, takes the helm for lesson 3 to teach you the short round graduation variation haircut. Demonstrating a shape that allows movement in the top, you’ll finetune your graduation, over-direction and layering skills – not to mention blunt, point and freehand cutting.

Lesson 4 – Short Square Layered Haircut

Stacey Broughton needs no introduction! In lesson 4, he demonstrates the short square layered pixie cut, teaching you how to place square layers on a round head, defining the corners to suit your clients. Mastering over-direction and comprehension of head shape, Stacey also shows you how to perfect your cutting techniques.

Lesson 5 – Short Round Uniform Layer With Conical Crown

In your final lesson, Stacey Broughton is in charge again – this time to show you a classic short Audrey Hepburn-esque pixie cut. Cutting techniques – including blunt, club, freehand, point and scissors-over-comb – are crucial to succeed at creating this elegant, soft-cropped look that accentuates the shape of the head. The perfect way to complete the course!

FAQs

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
