Description

Students will explore the wide-ranging methods used to investigate major crimes, such as sexual assault and homicide, while also critically appraising effective police partnerships and leadership. The course also has a strong emphasis on the function of psychology in supporting criminal investigations.

Using programme materials created by tutors with professional senior policing and investigative experience and extensive academic experience, students will develop thorough knowledge of modern-day criminological and psychological theory, policing and social policy. After graduation from the programme, students will possess a thorough understanding of the evolving nature of policing with a particular focus on partnership working, leadership and social and government policy. Students will also acquire a variety of analytical and critical skills that are applicable in a number of different professional environments.

Upon completion of this Postgraduate Certificate, we offer students the opportunity to progress on to our Postgraduate Diploma in Criminology and Criminal Psychology (awarded after 120 credits) and a full Masters in Criminology and Criminal Psychology (awarded after 180 credits).
