The online REPs-endorsed YMCA Awards Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training (Gym-Based Exercise) is perfect for those who have attained the Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing or equivalent and are looking to join the REPs (Register of Exercise Professionals), be self-employed or progress their career in the health and fitness industry.
The course comprises 4 units in which you will learn how to design, manage and adapt a safe and effective exercise and nutrition programme for adults of all ages, and how to communicate with and motivate clients.
This advanced qualification gives you the knowledge, understanding and skill needed to work unsupervised as a personal trainer and build a career in the health and fitness industry once you have registered with the Register of Exercise Professionals.
It also allows you to progress to further qualifications in areas such as outdoor fitness, sports conditioning, sports massage, exercise referral, and business skills for fitness professionals.
This course will equip you with the specialist knowledge, understanding and skills you need to become a personal trainer.
It comprises 4 mandatory units which total 36 credits and 245 guided learning hours:
- Anatomy and physiology for exercise and health
- Applying the principles of nutrition to a physical activity programme
- Programming personal training with clients
- Delivering personal training sessions
Who is this course for?
This course is perfect for you if you have a Level 2 or equivalent gym instructor qualification and wish to gain the skills and knowledge needed to work unsupervised as a personal trainer. This includes being able to provide one-to-one training with your clients, nutrition advice, progressive programming and other specific needs of your client.
Please note that we only accept Level 2 (Gym-Based Exercise) Certificates that have covered the following mandatory units: health, safety & welfare in a fitness environment, know how to support clients who take part in exercise & physical activity, and principles of exercise, fitness & health.
To study our fitness courses you'll need to be resident in the UK and have access to a gym.
You must also be over 16 to enrol on this course, and good written and verbal communication skills are recommended.
This qualification can lead to employment or self-employment as a personal trainer.
