Overview

As a nurse or carer looking after a child with a tracheotomy it is important that you have up to date knowledge. This course will give you that. The trainer has many years working with babies and children with tracheotomies and therefore, able to support you throughout the day with any questions you have, or if you need any clarification.

By the end of the course will have have more confidence and be safer in your practice.

Description

Syllabus:

A range of subjects are covered including:

* What is a Tracheostomy

* A&P of the Respiratory System

* Indications for a Tracheostomy

* Complication of Tracheostomy

* Care of the Tracheostomy—including emergency changes

* CPR on a Tracheostomy

* Legislation

There is a practical side to the course, were the candidate will the opportunity to not only clean and care for the stoma site but also to do a emergency Tracheotomy change.

Who is this course for?

This course is aimed at RNs , HCAs and carers that either want to refresh their knowledge or gain a better understanding of a Peadiatric with a Tracheostomy.

Starts at 9.45am to 3pm There a practical side to the course We will provide refreshments and a light lunch

Basic knowledge of the condition helpful.

Career path

As nurse working towards your Revalidation you will have 7 hours towards your CPD.
