OTHM level 7 diplomas are located on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) and are recognised as being at the same level as Master’s degrees. However, they are shorter (120 credits) qualifications which means learners will have to proceed to the dissertation stage (60 credits) with an appropriate university to achieve a full Master’s qualification.

Qualification structure

The OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Data Science consists of 6 mandatory units for a combined total of 120 credits, 1200 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT) and 480 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for the completed qualification.

Assessment and verification

All units within this qualification are assessed and internally quality assured by Westmoor College and externally verified by OTHM. The qualifications are criterion referenced, based on the achievement of all the specified learning outcomes.

For entry into the OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Data Science qualification, learners must possess:

• An honours degree in a related subject, a UK level 6 diploma or an equivalent overseas qualification
• Mature learners with management experience (learners must check with the delivery centre regarding this experience prior to registering for the programme)
• The learner must be 21 years old or older at the beginning of the course

Progressions
The OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Data Science enables learners to progress into or within employment and/or continue their further study. Because Ofqual (Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulation) has approved and regulated this qualification, learners may be qualified to progress to a Master’s top-up at many universities in the UK and abroad with advanced standing.
