Overview

Business Operations Management Introduction

Operations management is an area of management which is about how to design and how to control the process of production and it also illustrates how to redesign the business operations in goods or services production.

Moreover, it deals with the administration of various business practices for boosting the efficiency level of an organization. Operations management teams make a balance between costs and expenditures to gain the highest net operating profit possible.

Operations are the center of any business which provides good and services. When they are well- managed, it facilitates the function of all other departments but on the other hand, if operations are poorly-managed, all other departments suffer a lot.

This unit aims to define the operations management with its different types. It also enhances our understanding of various financial terms, with key reports and the approaches and strategies of getting the right people in place.

On the completion of this unit, learners will be equipped to identify the differences between current and fixed assets, the six essential steps of hiring and getting the product together.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
