Description

Children’s early years are particularly important to their development. The stimulations they receive and experiences they gain during the first five years of their life form the foundation of their brain’s development and shape their future health, learning achievement, social and emotional abilities, and general functioning throughout life. Due to these, it is necessary for parents and childcare workers to invest in the early years of children to ensure their future success. Part of this investment is to support, encourage, and integrate play into children’s activities.

Play is perceived as an activity that is meant to foster enjoyment and recreation. While some do not think that it has serious or practical purpose, the truth is it is integral to the emotional and intellectual development of children and strengthening their mental health resilience. In fact, play is often regarded as the ‘language of childhood.’ It is therefore a necessity to facilitate children’s play and provide opportunities and effective environments through which it can be carried out.

This Online Children Care and Playwork course will let you in on the fundamentals of childcare and playwork. It will give you insights into how children develop and how play influences their development process and outcomes. It will also acquaint you with playwork principles, which thoroughly explains what play is and what makes it unique and serve as the professional framework for playwork practice. The course will also provide you guidance on developing and maintaining positive relationships with children, exercising active listening and good communication, and designing and providing challenging play and play environments for children.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
