Overview
Many people often confuse bookkeeping with accounting. However, it should be note that the two are different. Bookkeeping is mainly about the recordkeeping of financial information, whereas accounting is all about measuring, analysing and verifying financial records using established systems. Since bookkeeping deals with the process of recording all the financial activities of a business, the expertise of a bookkeeper is necessary to ensure that records are accurate, true and up-to-date.
This course offers fundamental information about bookkeeping methodologies and practices. It is geared toward helping students master the art of bookkeeping and use it to effectively handle financial information.
Description
Students who will take this course shall have better understanding of: (a) how to execute double entry system; (b) basic bookkeeping process; (c) the concept of discounts; (d) errors and trial balance in bookkeeping; (e) what control accounts are; (f) the roles of the bookkeeper and critical aspects of the tax system; (g) various forms of enterprise; and (h) accounts and assets.
The course is integrated with interactive materials, allowing for better presentation of the topics discussed within. Students shall undergo assessments throughout the duration of the course to check their progress and ensure knowledge retention.
