On successful completion of these qualifications, recognition by employers enables learners to progress into or within employment and/or continue their study in the vocational area.

Successful learners can progress onto the Level 6 qualifications in Strategic Logistics Management , which will shortly be available through The Business School.

The OAL Level 5 Diploma in Logistics Management covers:

• Management in a logistics environment as a mandatory unit
• One of the two optional units:
  
  • Supply chain management in a logistics environment
  • Transport operations management in a logistics environment
• And two of the following 4 units:
  
  • Warehouse management in a logistics environment
  • Inventory management in a logistics environment
  • Managing the movement of goods in a logistics environment
  • Managing the movement of people in a logistics environment

On achievement of this qualification, learners will have covered the skills, knowledge and understanding of management in a logistics environment, including the management of people, resources and plans in a logistics environment, and within chosen specialist areas.

Assessment is by assignment and you are allowed to submit a full draft, plus two further submissions - full feedback is given to enable you to complete all learning outcomes successfully.

OAL qualifications at Level 5 represent practical knowledge, skills, capabilities and competences that are assessed in academic terms as being equivalent to Higher National Certificates (HNC) and Year 2 of a three-year UK Bachelor's degree programme.

This qualification is designed for learners who are working or wish to work in the logistics sector at management level, and who wish to further their knowledge, skills and understanding in this area and in relevant chosen specialist areas.

The Level 5 Diploma gives a broad understanding of the professional knowledge and skills needed to complete complex, non-routine tasks within the workplace and logistics management. It's for you if you work at an operational management level or if you are aspiring to these roles and want to stretch and develop your knowledge and capability.

These qualifications are designed for learners who are typically aged 18 and above. The entry profile for learners is likely to include at least one of the following:

• Relevant Level 3 Diploma qualification or equivalent qualification
• GCE Advanced level in 3 subjects or equivalent qualification
• Mature learners (over 21) with relevant management experience (learners must check with the delivery centre regarding this experience prior to registering for the programme).

Successful completion of the OAL Level 5 Diploma in Logistics Management provides learners with the opportunity to access a wide range of academic progression to relevant qualifications at Level 6.
