Overview

This classroom based NVQ Assessor’s course is designed for individuals who need to assess competence within the workplace and classroom. The course will teach you how to plan and carry out assessments in these areas. By its conclusion candidates will achieve a nationally accredited assessing qualification.

The course comprises of x3 different units

Uni1 - Assignment (roughly 3000 words)
Unit 2 - Workplace (x4 practice assessments)
Unit 3 - Vocational (x4 practice assessments)

Description

The course is run over three classroom days where the entire theoretical unit is completed, leaving no written work after the course. There is also a chance to do some practice assessments before moving onto units 2 & 3.

After the classroom days the learner then works independently carrying out eight assessments on two different work colleagues. So four assessments on each person.

The final part of the course is a live observation of one of the practice assessments. This can be completed by a qualified assessor within your workplace, or Train Aid can provide this service for an additional fee of £60.

The level 3 assessing course is designed for anyone who carries out assessments on-site and in the classroom. Examples include:

The qualification is suitable for those who are new to the role of assessing, but also ideal for experienced assessors who need to obtain national accreditation.

Requirements

Candidates require access to x2 work colleagues / staff members before starting the course. These learners will form the basis of a portfolio of evidence for units 2 & 3. They do not necessarily have to be on a formal training program.

Career path

Successful completion can lead to a full / part time job as an NVQ assessor. This includes hairdressing schools, colleges and childcare. The average salary was 26k for a full time position (Based on 3013 salaries).
