Description
This Assessment Skills & Practice – Level 3 course consists of seven structured lectures followed by an assessment, each introducing a core area of assessment knowledge and professional awareness.
The course begins with an introduction to assessment in vocational and learning environments, including awareness of commonly used vocational assessment structures found in education and training environments, without providing regulated framework training. Assessment methods and techniques explore different approaches to assessing learning, including observation, questioning, and evidence review.
Gathering and evaluating evidence focuses on understanding types of evidence, evidence validity, and decision-making principles used in assessment contexts. Assessment criteria and standards introduce the role of benchmarks, consistency, and fairness in assessment decisions.
Addressing diverse learner needs explores inclusive assessment principles, equality considerations, and strategies to support learners with differing needs, presented at an awareness level only. Legal and ethical considerations examine professional responsibilities, data protection awareness, confidentiality, and ethical conduct in assessment-related activities.
Self-assessment and continuous improvement focus on reflective practice, feedback use, and ongoing professional development related to assessment support roles. The course concludes with an assessment designed to evaluate learners’ understanding of assessment principles and practices.
