Course Study Level

Students should be mindful this is a Degree level qualification and as such SHEilds classify the NEBOSH National Diploma course as a demanding qualification.

Students may find it very difficult to gain a pass mark if they do not have existing background knowledge as a health & safety practitioner or the ability to study at Degree level.

Who is this course for?

The NEBOSH National Diploma in Health & Safety is designed for individuals with a desire to progress their career in Occupational Health & Safety management and work within the United Kingdom only. Those working outside of the United Kingdom should study the NEBOSH International Diploma in occupational health and safety.

Becoming qualified will also benefit your company – employing appropriately qualified professionals enables employers to adhere to the strict UK legislation and management standards, such as achieving ISO 45001:2018.

Some businesses will only use the services of companies that meet particular recognised standards.

Career path

Combined with a specialised qualification such as a Certificate in Construction health and safety, Fire and Risk Management Certificate or a more practical Level 6 NVQ, you’ll be qualified to the very highest levels. To progress further, we suggest moving on to a Level 6 NVQ or NEBOSH Environmental Diploma course.

ClaireC asked:

I am not currently working, so able to study fulltime at home.Does any part of the course require me to be physically working in any capacity?

Answer:

Good Morning Claire, You would have zero issues studying the course whilst not been in fulltime employment however you would need a workplace in order to do the Unit D assignment - You don't have to be employed there meaning you can use a family/friends work location (with permission) or you use a local charity shop etc providing they agree. Hope that helps SHEilds

Colva asked:

Can i complete course in 4 months or less

Answer:

The average completion time for this qualification is 12 - 16 months. In theory, it is possible to register and complete within a shorter period, this would all depend on the amount of time you can dedicate to your studies and your current OHS management knowledge and experience. The course requires approx 500 hours of study. I would encourage you to submit an enquiry allowing on of our courses advisers to be able to reach out to you and discuss your requirements in more detail. SHEilds

FAQs

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
