This nationally recognised NEBOSH qualification covers the main legal requirements for health and safety and deals with a range of workplace hazards and methods of control.

Course Content

The NEBOSH Certificate consists of two units, each separately assessed. The course will involve a minimum of 68 taught hours and approximately 40 hours of private study and background reading. It is possible for learners to complete the qualification in 10 working days. Delegates may choose to take the units together or at different times, but delegates are required to pass both within a five-year period to gain the overall award.

NG2 – Risk Assessment

Exams and Certificates

The total assessment time for the NGC is 7 hours. Learners must complete and pass the following to achieve the NEBOSH Certificate. NG1 is assessed via an open book exam which is administered online and must be completed during a set 24-hour window. NG2 is assessed via a practical assessment carried out following completion of all the units and usually carried out within the delegates’ workplace. On completion of this assessment, the delegate will receive either a pass or refer. NG2 does not contribute to the delegate’s overall grade. A delegate can receive an overall refer, pass, credit, or distinction grade following their open book examination and a pass grade for the practical assessment.

The NEBOSH Certificate course is suitable for safety managers, line managers, supervisors, and anybody with safety management responsibilities. It’s also perfect for those embarking on a health and safety career and can lead to further qualifications such as the NEBOSH National Diploma, the flagship NEBOSH qualification.

NEBOSH advise that it is important that learners have a suitable standard of English language in order to understand and articulate the concepts contained in the syllabus.
