Description
The broad syllabus includes:​​
- Foundations in environmental management
- Environmental management systems
- Aspects and associated impacts
- Practical assessment
- Planning for and dealing with environmental emergencies
- Control of emissions to air
- Control of environmental noise
- Control of contamination of water sources
- Control of waste and land use
- Sources and use of energy and energy efficiency
Unit EMC (theory) is assessed by a scenario based Open Book Exam completed at home. It will take around 10 hours and you have 24 hours to complete the assessment and return it to NEBOSH.
Unit FSC2 (practical) is assessed by a producing a fire risk assessment carried out in your workplace (or another suitable workplace).

The NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate is an ideal choice for anyone who has or would like to have environmental management responsibilities at work.​
Requirements
There are no entry requirements for this qualification, however it is important that learners have a suitable standard of English language in order to understand and articulate the concepts contained in the syllabus.
NEBOSH recommends that learners undertaking this qualification should reach a minimum standard of English equivalent to an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6.0 or higher in IELTS tests.

Persons having completed and passed this course may which to go onto complete the NEBOSH Diploma in Environmental Management.
