The NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety (FSC)is a global relevant fire safety qualification. The course is aimed at health and safety managers, facilities managers, health and safety representative and anybody who manages fire safety as part of their duties within their organisation.

It also makes excellent continued professional development (CPD) for those who are looking to expand their knowledge.

Unit FSC1

Included in course price

Unit FSC1: Open book examination is completed online via the NEBOSH exam portal, to which you have 24 hours access. On average you should allocate approximately 5 hours to complete the exam. You’ll be awarded a grading for the FSC1, as outlined below

  • Pass: 45-64 marks
  • Credit: 65-74 marks
  • Distinction: 75+ marks.

Unit FSC2

Included in course price

Unit FSC2: Workplace-based fire risk assessment task. Completed in a workplace and submitted to BSC via email. FSC2 is marked either a pass or refer (fail).

You must successfully pass both units to achieve your full NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety.

Description

The NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety (FSC)is a global relevant fire safety qualification.

The qualification looks at fire safety and can be applied in many sectors. On completion of the qualification, you will be able to:

  • Justify fire safety improvements using moral and financial arguments
  • Advise how fires and explosions can occur and the appropriate controls to minimise fire and explosion risks
  • Advise their employer on the requirements for the fire protection of premises and workers including the appropriate training obligations
  • Carry out a fire risk assessment in their own workplace – prioritising risks, inspecting the workplace, recognising a range of common fire hazards, evaluating risks (taking account of current controls), recommending further control measures, planning actions.

The new syllabus is now delivered over four days.

Holders of the NEBOSH Fire Certificate can apply for technical membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (Tech IOSH). Many students then progress to the NEBOSH National Diploma (Grad IOSH) and from there to chartered status (CMIOSH).

Requirements

Assessments are available in English only.

Your standard of English must be such that you can both understand and articulate the concepts contained in the syllabus.

NEBOSH recommends that non-native speakers undertaking this qualification should have a minimum standard of English equivalent to an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6.0 or higher in IELTS tests. For further information please consult the IELTS website.

Career path
