Overview

The NEBOSH National Certificate in Environmental management has been designed to provide an introduction to the fundamentals of environmental management and will provide candidates from all sectors of industry with a good solid understanding of environmental management principles. The course will be of specific interest to UK-based managers, supervisors and employees who are responsible for the management of environmental issues as part of their daily duties. The certificate focuses on UK law and environmental management systems and will benefit companies seeking to implement such systems effectively, ensuring that line managers have a sound understanding of the principles of managing environmental risk. The NEBOSH Certificate In Environmental Management has been accepted by CIWEM (The Chartered Institution Of Water & Environmental Management) to meet the requirements for technician membership (TECHCIWEM). All holders of the environmental certificate are eligible to apply for membership.

Description

The NEBOSH certificate in environmental management consists of two units; each separately assessed:

Unit EC1: management and control of:

  • Environmental hazards
  • Foundations in environmental management
  • Environmental management systems
  • Environmental impact assessments
  • Control of emissions to air
  • Control of contamination of water sources
  • Control of waste and land use
  • Sources and use of energy and energy efficiency
  • Control of environmental noise
  • Planning for and dealing with environmental emergencies

Assessed by a 2 hour written exam NEBOSH Certificate in Environmental Management 5 Day Course + 1 Exam Day

Unit EC2: environmental practical application:

  • Assessed by a 2 hour practical assessment, undertaken in your workplace.

Who is this course for?

Managers, supervisors and employees, who have responsibility for managing environment issues as part of their day to day duties.

Requirements

No previous environmental knowledge is required although it should be noted that the assessment includes a requirement to write a short report.
