Want to learn about the principles of dementia care?
Our Principles of Dementia Care course is suitable for those who care for people with dementia. The most common cause of disability in later life is dementia and to provide the best care, it is imperative to understand the condition. You will learn about dementia-related approaches and how to interact and behave with people with dementia, as well as how to communicate effectively with them. If you work in a Health and Social Care setting this course will help you achieve Standard 9 in the Care Certificate - Awareness of mental health, dementia and learning disabilities.
Dementia affects approximately 820,000 people in the UK and is expected to reach one million by 2025, and two million by 2051. Every year, it costs the UK over £26 billion, showing how imperative it is to raise awareness of dementia and understand person-centred care.
