Description
Unit 1 – Understanding mercury and the hazards of exposure
In this first unit, you will learn about the different forms of mercury. You will develop your understanding of how mercury can enter the environment, as well as some of the symptoms of mercury exposure.
Unit 2 – Workplace control measures and exposure response
In this second unit, you will learn about how to keep yourself safe from the hazards mercury presents through an understanding of exposure limits and control measures. By the end of this unit, you will also know how to respond safely in the event of a mercury contamination or exposure.
By the end of this Mercury Awareness course, you will be able to:
- Describe what mercury is and the different forms it can take
- Describe the hazards associated with mercury
- Identify the mercury workplace exposure limits
- Describe the control measures used to limit and control the effects of mercury exposure
- Explain what to do in the event of mercury exposure or contamination
