Description
This Mental Health Awareness and Wellbeing Support course consists of nineteen structured modules, followed by an assessment, each designed to develop awareness of mental health concepts and wellbeing support principles.
The course begins with an introduction to mental health, exploring what mental health means and why awareness is important. Stress and anxiety disorders introduce common experiences and challenges discussed in mental health contexts, presented without diagnostic or treatment guidance.
Modules on schizophrenia, personality disorders, mood disorders, and eating and sleeping disorders provide high-level educational overviews to support understanding of how these conditions are discussed in healthcare and social contexts.
Self-harm and suicide are addressed sensitively and responsibly, focusing on awareness, language, and the importance of support and safeguarding, without providing methods, instructions, or advice.
Mental health in the workplace explores wellbeing awareness, employer responsibilities, and supportive environments. Mental health legislation and services introduce the UK framework governing mental health support and rights.
Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs) explore how multidisciplinary support services operate within the community. The participation of the service user focuses on inclusion, voice, and involvement in wellbeing-related decisions.
The latter modules introduce problem definition, brainstorming, solution generation, analysis, and planning, presented as general problem-solving and wellbeing-support frameworks, not as therapeutic techniques.
The course concludes with an assessment to consolidate understanding of mental health awareness, wellbeing support concepts, and responsible engagement.
