The Mental Capacity Act came into force in 2007 and was designed to strengthen the protection of vulnerable adults. This course enables candidates to understand the principles of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and how those working within the Care Sector can ensure compliance whilst carrying out their job role, to ensure the best interests of those that they care for who may or may not be able to consent.

Description

The course covers:

  • What is meant by the term “capacity”
  • Key principles of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards
  • The assessment process required for assessing both mental capacity and the authorisation for deprivation of liberty
  • The supporting framework and roles of others specific to these.
