Description

Why take this Manual Handling and First Aid Training?

Employers have a legal requirement to take reasonable steps to safeguard the health and safety of all employees, including increasing awareness about potential hazards, and outlining what can be done to minimise risk.

This training bundle will provide you or your workers with a general overview of how to stay safe in the event of a manual handling accident. It will also explain how to act safely and effectively in the event of an incident requiring first aid assistance at the scene of an accident.

The Manual Handling course will help learners understand the correct manual handling procedures to apply to be able to reduce their chance of incurring an injury while handling loads.

The First Aid Primary Survey course will help learners to react appropriately when they are first on the scene of an incident involving a casualty and know what necessary steps to take.

Target Audience

This training is aimed primarily at businesses who want to train their staff in manual handling and provide them a basic understanding of first aid principles.

Please note that the first aid training will not make your staff qualified first aiders. In order for someone to become a qualified first aider, further training that includes at least 18 training and assessment contact hours is required.

Duration

The Manual Handling in the Workplace course usually takes between one and two hours to complete. The First Aid Primary Survey course usually takes between one and two hours to complete.

Learners do not have to complete all the training in one session as progress is recorded throughout and the training can be paused and resumed in our learning management system at any time.

Test and certificate

The end of both of these courses consists of a test of 15 multiple choice questions. Learners are required to achieve an 75% pass mark for the First Aid training and 85% for the manual handling training. Learners may attempt the tests three times each at no extra cost, having revisited the training material.

If learners do not immediately achieve the pass mark, further attempts may be given by contacting our Learner Support team. Learners can download and print digital certificates immediately upon completion.

FAQs

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
