physiotherapist here and want to be a care home manager. level 5 okay to start?must I go back to level 1 since I'm a hcpc reg physio already?
Answer:
Being a physiotherapist is not the same as being a residential care worker, and the training required for the different job roles are very different, they are not like for like. The fact that you don't seem to know the difference actually answers your question. Anyone who intends to be a care home manager must have the occupational competence across the relevant job roles in residential care and accompanying qualifications for Adult Social Care, at level 2, Level 3, Level 4 and Level 5.
If you’re a manager in banking sector however not in a care setting can you still be able to do this course to set up a care agency?
Answer:
For the initial training covered by the small fee, the learner does not have to be managing a care setting. However, for the full Ofqual-recognised qualification covered by the additional fees, the leaner must be managing a care setting in England, according to the RQF rules.
Do you have to be working in a care setting to study this course? Currently on maternity but want to further my education on preparation for return.
Answer:
You don't have to be working in a care setting to do the course. This is why there is an initial course to enable anyone interested to receive that initial training. I live in Guernsey, And I am working in Health and social sector
Do I eligible to purchase the course
Answer:
An interesting question. This qualification is approved by OFQUAL for delivery to those who live or work in England.
If Guernsey, a Channel Island, is officially classed as being in England then you will be eligible to study for the full Awarding Body certificated course.
If, however, Guernsey is not officially in England, then you can still study for the qualification and be assessed but your certification will be done by Courses For Jobs Ltd.
How can you be working as a care manager whilst working towards this qualification if you need this qualification in order to work as a care manager?
Answer:
That is the way it is for this qualification.
On the other hand, the Level 4 Certificate in Principles of Leadership and Management for Adult Care (RQF) does not require the learner to be working as a care manager in order to study it.
Is this qualification recognised in England and Wales or are there separate courses?
Thankyou
Answer:
The recognition is detailed in the Course Information page where you posted this question. Please read the Course Information already provided as requested.
What happens if I pay monthly to do the course in 12 months but I take longer?
Answer:
If you have fully paid up over the 12 months without break in payment, then we allow you flexibility even if you take longer than 12 months to complete the full qualification. We advise learners to complete the full qualification within 18 months (without asking for further payment from the learner), we allow up to complete 24 months but note that after 2 years some of the evidence starts getting really old.
As a nurse with 9 years experience, I would like to progress towards Deputy Matron/ Home Manager. Can I take this course without my employer knowing?
Answer:
Yes, you can take this qualification without your employer knowing. We do not involve the employer or the manager, and we do not visit students in their workplace. You will still have to provide evidence of your skills-based leadership and management activities in your current job or jobs, but you will be given guidance on how to collect the required evidence.
I have no experience in Adult Care Managment. I would like to set up my own care agency. Can I do this course?
Answer:
The qualification requires the learner to provide current evidence of current practical skills as a manager in a care setting, which is why you have to be working as a manager in a care service. The qualification takes 800 hours to complete, which can take the learner between 12 and 24 months. We allow learners to start provided they understand that while on the course they must get a care management job to enable them to complete the skills-based assessment criteria for the qualification.
If your not a manager will you still

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.
An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
